Q&A: I got rid of the “vista malware” virus and now almost nothing on my computer will work, any help?
Question by : I got rid of the “vista malware” virus and now almost nothing on my computer will work, any help?
So I got that stupid Vista malware virus, where it stops everything you try to do and pulls up that pop up thats “scanning” for viruses.
Well I turned on my computer in safe mode, ran a scan of my computer, and deleted sgu.exe out of the processes in task manager. Someone told me that was how to get rid of the virus, and it did, buuuut now everything is messed up.
Every time I click on anything on my desktop a message that will say something along the lines of
“C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe
Application not found.”
And thats what I get for anything I try ....> The Post Continues Here! <....

I just got this message from “Software Updates” on Skype IM, telling me they’ve detected a virus and I should add them if I want them to protect my pc. I’ve copy and pasted the message.
Could you look at it and tell me if this looks like an attempt to give me a virus? I haven’t done anythng about it yet.

I cannot update McAfee, AdAware and MS Security patches. Virus? What to do?
Question by Yan B: I cannot update McAfee, AdAware and MS Security patches. Virus? What to do?
I suspect I got a computer virus. The computer slowed down, firewall got turned off somehow, and the font changed in my web browser.
To check for virus I installed old McAfee (about 3 year old version) and current Lavasoft AdAware (but with old definitions file from 2005) anti-virus software and tried to update them.
